Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons face the Louisville Bats in the second game of a three-game series at Louisville Slugger Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is winners of seven straight games, four of which have come against the Bats. Buffalo is 23-17 on the road this season (.575).
Winning Ways
The Bisons have won seven-straight for the first time since July 24-30, 2014 and are 10-games over the .500 mark for the first time since ending the 2014 season at 77-66. Buffalo has not won eight straight since a nine-game stretch, April 15-23, 2013. At 17-9, the Bisons have posted their best June since going 20-8 during the 2004 campaign.
Last Game (BUF 3, LOU 1)
First-inning home runs from INF Andy Burns and DH Jesus Montero provided the offense in last night's 3-1 win. It was the team's 11th multi-homer game of the season. RHP Chris Leroux allowed one run in 6.2 innings of work to improve to 6-4 on the season.
vs. Louisville (4-1)
The Bisons have clinched the season-series over the Louisville Bats with only tonight's and tomorrow's contests left this year. Buffalo won the final three games of their four-game set against the Bats at Coca-Cola Field last week and have outscored the Bats, 27-15.
Drew Hutchison
RHP Drew Hutchison has won five of his last six starts, posting a 3.25 ERA in 36.0 innings of work since May 26. He allowed three runs over six innings in a victory over the Bats last Thursday in Buffalo. Hutchison has 40 strikeouts in his last five starts and is 2nd among all International League pitchers with 92 strikeouts on the season.
MLB Rehabs
LHP Brett Cecil (tricep strain) and LHP Franklin Morales (shoulder fatigue) are on MLB injury rehab assignments with the Bisons. Cecil allowed a hit in an inning of work on Saturday against Indy, while Morales needed just nine pitches for a 1-2-3 frame on Sunday (1K).
Jesus Montero
DH Jesus Montero has driven in a run in each of his last five games (8RBI) and now ranks tied for 3rd in the IL with 46 RBI. Montero also has multi-hit performances in his last five contests, and is now tied for 3rd in the IL in average (.311) and 2nd in total hits (88).
Bisons Bits
The Bisons turned 11 doubleplays in the last four games...The Bisons are an IL-best 29-6 (.829) when scoring first...The Bisons' 30 saves are six more than any other International League team...RHP Ben Rowen has not allowed a run in his last 17 outings, a 22.2-inning stretch that began on May 8 (10H, 19K).
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (41-37) were on the short side of a 9-5 loss in Colorado last night. Toronto has now dropped six of their last eight contests. DH Edwin Encarnacion homered twice and now has 21 longballs ont he season. 2B Devon Travis also homered for the Blue Jays. Toronto takes on the Rockies again tonight at 8:40 p.m.
