
Bisons Face The Rochester Red Wings

TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons face the Rochester Red Wings in the final game of a two-game series at Frontier Field (12:05 p.m.). The Herd was victorious last night, 6-2, for its fourth consecutive win. The Bisons will host the Red Wings for two games at Coca-Cola Field, July 21-22, before leaving on an eight-game roadtrip on Friday to Toledo and Columbus.
vs RED WINGS: The Bisons are 5-3 against the Red Wings this season. The teams split a pair of two-game series in Rochester, April 21-22 and July 10-11. Buffalo took two of three in the only series at Coca-Cola Field, July 1-3. The Bisons are in search of the two-game sweep today. It would be the Herd's first series win in Rochester since a two-game sweep, June 30 - July 1, 2007.
HESSMAN RETURNS: In his first game in over a month, INF MIKE HESSMAN went 2-5 with a double and his team-leading 58th RBI. Despite missing 33 games with a right hand injury, Hessman still ranks tied for 2nd in the league RBI (58) and tied for 3rd in homers (18). The slugger's .616 slugging pct. is just three plate appearances shy of qualifying as the best in the IL.
LUIS, LUIS: INF LUIS HERNANDEZ is the hottest bat in the Bisons lineup. In his last eight games, Hernandez has hit .448 (17-38) with four doubles and 10 runs scored. The infielder has five multi-hit efforts in his last eight games. In six games against Rochester, Hernandez has hit .440 (11-25) in six contests.
JOLTIN' JACOBS: INF MIKE JACOBS has reached base safely in each of his last 18 games. Since June 27, the slugger has averaged .319 (23-72) with six doubles, six home runs, 18RBI and 10 walks. Last night, Jacobs hit a sacrifice fly last night for his 54th RBI of the season. The total second on the Bisons and 8th-most in the International League.
HOMERING HERD: The Bisons lead the International League with 103 home runs, one more than the Durham Bulls. INF LUCAS DUDA hit his 10th home run of the season last night, giving the Bisons four batters with double-digit longballs. INF MIKE HESSMAN leads the squad with 18 while INF MIKE JACOBS has 15 and INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI has 11 on the year.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (49-44) fell to the Diamondbacks in Arizona, 13-2, last night. INF LUIS CASTILLO had two hits in his return to the lineup. With Castillo's activation from the disabled list, the Mets announced that they have optioned INF RUBEN TEJADA to the Bisons. Tejada hit .294 in 51 games with the Herd this year. New York takes on Arizona again tonight at 9:40 p.m.
