Louisville Slugs Knights for Second Straight Day

FORT MILL, S.C. - For the second straight the Louisville Bats were able to slug their way to a win over the Charlotte Knights. The Bats hit five home runs in the 8-4 victory and have now hit nine off Charlotte pitching in the last two games.

The Knights drew first blood in the game when Alejandro De Aza scored on a Luis Rodriguez RBI-single in the first inning. The Knights later added a run in the 5th to take a 2-1 lead thanks to a De Aza single that scored Rob Hudson from second base.

Louisville claimed the lead for good in the top of the 6th inning Michael Griffin the first of his two home runs in the game. The Bats continued to swing for the fences as they added home runs from Wladimir Balentien and Chris Denove in the 8th inning. Griffin his second homer of the day in the 8th inning as well.

The loss was the Knights second straight and it was the first time since July 5th that they have lost consecutive games. The Bats Matt Klinker earned the win to improve to 4-1 and the Knights Lucas Harrell took the loss he is now 8-9.

The Knights and Bats continue their series tomorrow at 7:15 PM. RHP Jeff Marquez (8-4, 3.87 ERA) will pitch for the Knights, the Bats will start LHP Ben Jukich (3-4, 4.33 ERA).
