Norfolk Tides News Release
Michael Aubrey homered and drove in four, but Norfolk dropped an 8-5 decision to the Syracuse Chiefs Tuesday night at Harbor Park.
Aubrey belted a three-run homer in a four-run seventh inning and added a ninth inning sacrifice fly to set a personal season-high for RBI in a game. He's now belted five home runs in his last five games and has hit safely in nine of his last 12, driving in 15 over that 12-game span.
Norfolk starter Tim Bascom (2-5) took the loss as he was roughed up for six runs on five hits and four walks in 1.2 innings. The Chiefs scored two in the first and four in the second off Bascom, who threw 60 pitches in the brief appearance.
Syracuse starter Erik Arnesen (3-5) earned the win, as he faced the minimum over six innings of work. The 26-year-old right-hander allowed a one-out single by Robert Andino in the first before Andino was retired on a double play, and he then retired each of the next 15 batters he faced.
Andino finished the contest 2-for-4 with a seventh inning, run-scoring double, extending his team-leading RBI total to 57.
Luis Ordaz had three hits and an RBI to lead the Chiefs 12-hit attack, while Leonard Davis belted a two-run homer.
The two clubs will continue their four-game series on Wednesday night, with first pitch from Harbor Park at 7:15. Troy Patton (6-9, 4.91) will take the hill for Norfolk against right-hander Jason Jones (1-4, 4.82).
