June 6, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Bisons lost three out of their last four games before Saturday night's contest mainly due to an offensive drought that produced just six runs over the stretch.
The Herd nearly doubled that total in one night at Louisville Slugger Field.
Buffalo exploded for 17 hits and 11 runs as the Herd defeated the Louisville Bats 11-6 on Saturday night in the third game of the series in Louisville, Kentucky. Every Buffalo position starter recorded at least one hit in the performance, including three from Ramon Santiago, Brad Glenn and Caleb Gindl.
Buffalo's torrid offense got going right from the start. The scored on a doubleplay in the first inning and tacked on two more runs in the second. Caleb Gindl's groundout and Sean Ochinko's RBI-double gave Buffalo an early 3-0 advantage.
The third inning was highlighted by an RBI from Glenn and Burns as the Bisons upped their lead to 5-0. But entering the fifth inning, the game was suddenly tied.
Randy Wolf allowed the first six batters to reach base in the fifth, allowing five hits and one walk. The southpaw allowed five runs in the frame and was pulled after allowing an RBI single to Ramon Cabrera.
Wolf finished his day after 3.2 innings of work, allowing five earned runs, seven hits and raised his ERA to 2.56.
The Bats tacked on another run in the fifth inning to take a 6-5 lead on an RBI triple by former Bison Josh Satin, but the Bisons answered right back. Santiago tied the game with an RBI double to right field in the sixth, plating Jonathan Diaz
Entering the eighth inning, the game was still tied mainly due to Louisville's five-run explosion in the fourth inning. Buffalo, however, had yet another offensive outburst.
The Bisons put up five runs in the eighth, which put the game out of hand and eventually sealed the Buffalo victory. Gindl accumulated his third hit of the day in the inning with a two-run single, and went 3-for-5 for the night with a team-high three RBIs.
Gregory Infante recorded his first win of the season as he shut out Louisville in the seventh and eighth innings, while striking out two. The Buffalo bullpen combined for allowed only one run over 5.1 innings. Louisville's run in the sixth inning was the first run scored against a Buffalo reliever in nearly 15 innings; a streak that was active since last Sunday.
Buffalo plays its last game of the series tomorrow, effectively ending its seven-game road trip. The Bisons then begin a seven-game home stand, beginning with a three-game series against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Sunday's first pitch will be at 6:05 p.m.
