Biscuits Win Wild Finale in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. - After five lead changes and 26 hits, the Biscuits (24-20) took the rubber-match from the Jackson Generals (18-26) 11-9 Monday morning at Generals Park to finish their road trip 5-5.

The Biscuits scored in every inning except for the third and the ninth while the Generals scored in every inning from the third through the seventh.

The Biscuits took their final lead of the game with a two-run double from Jeff Malm in the eighth inning to lead 11-9. Santiago Garrido (5) pitched the final two innings to pick up his fifth save.

Through three innings the Biscuits led 2-1 after a couple of two-out, RBI-singles from Luke Maile and Jake Hager. The Generals then tied the game at three with a two-run fourth inning.

Riccio Torrez tripled-in two runs to give the Biscuits a 5-3 lead in the fifth inning. After the Generals scored a run in the fifth, Richie Shaffer hit a solo blast in the sixth to make it 6-4 Biscuits. The lead was short lived as the Generals took their first lead of the game with a three-run sixth inning.

In the seventh, Ryan Brett walked with the bases loaded to the game, followed by a two-out, two-run single to give the Biscuits a 9-7 lead. Jackson tied the game at nine with two runs in their half of the seventh.

Every player in the Biscuits lineup collected a hit with Maile leading the way with four hits and three RBI. Malm and Torrez drove in two runs each.

The Biscuits will have a day off on Tuesday then start a five-game series with the Huntsville Stars on Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium. RH Jared Mortensen will throw the series-opener while the Stars have not yet announced their starter. First pitch is set for 7:05.
