CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Today the Southern League announced that Chattanooga Lookouts' outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker has been named the Southern League Hitter of the Week for the period of May 12-18. Hazelbaker is the first Chattanooga Lookouts' player to earn a weekly accolade from the league this season.

Coming into the week, Hazelbaker had a .269 batting average with two home runs and 12 RBIs. In his next six games the outfielder posted four multi-hit games to raise his average to .302. Hazelbaker's batting average is now the ninth highest in the Southern League.

Last week, the former Pawtucket Red Sox outfielder also smacked two home runs and stole two bases. The speedster now has a team-high 10-stolen bases on the year in only 12 attempts.

Hazelbaker's outstanding week has just been another bright spot in what has been a great month. In the month of May the left-hander has a team-high 18 hits and a team-high batting average of .333. He also has three triples this month which brings his season-total to seven. His seven triples ranks first in the Southern League and is tied with Chris Garcia of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans for the most amount of three-baggers in all of Minor League Baseball.

Lookouts' fans can watch Hazelbaker and the rest of the team when they come back into town on Wednesday, May 21 and face the Mississippi Braves. Right-hander Nick Struck (0-2, 5.28) is scheduled to take on Braves' righty Willams Perez (2-3, 1.88) at 7:15 p.m.

Tickets for the team's five-game homestand against the Mississippi Braves can be bought online at www.lookouts.com or by phone at 423-267-4TIX.
