
BayBears Fall for the First Time in a Week

MOBILE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears fell 5-6 in 10 innings to the Chattanooga Lookouts Monday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium. Mobile held a 5-4 lead entering the seventh but Chattanooga tied the game with a run off of BayBear RHP Kaleb Fleck. The loss snapped the BayBears eight game win streak just one victory shy of the franchise record with nine consecutive wins set back in 2009.
The Lookouts were the first on the board in the second with a home run by O'Koyea Dickson but the BayBears answered with four runs just three outs later. Jon Griffin homered in the bottom of the second and RHP Mike Lee helped his own cause wit ha two-run double. Mobile lead until the seventh inning when Noel Cuevas scores on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 5-5. In the top of the tenth Dickson scored again for the Lookouts on Chris O'Brien sacrifice to secure fly off of BayBear RHP Blake Cooper.
Lee went seven innings for Mobile, allowing three runs on five hits before the bullpen took over. Copper (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season, allowing the go-ahead run to score for the Lookouts 6-5 lead. The earned run allowed by the BayBear righty was just the third earned run he had given up in 22.2 innings in 2014.
With an off day on Tuesday the BayBears travel to Tennessee to face the Smokies in a five game series with the first game starting at 6:15 PM CT Wednesday night. RHP Bradin Hagens (1-2, 2.36) will take the mound for Mobile as the BayBears and Smokies meet for the first time in 2014. When the BayBears complete the road trip in Tennessee, they will return home for a five game set with the Jackson Generals with the first game scheduled for 4:05 PM CT Monday, May 26.
