Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala., July 7, 2014 - The Montgomery Biscuits welcomed their three millionth fan on Monday night when the Biscuits took on the Mississippi Braves.
The Biscuits reached the three millionth fan milestone in less than eleven seasons. When Riverwalk Stadium was built in 2004 the original pro-forma number projected the three millionth fan would walk through the gates in 2018. Thanks to the Montgomery community the Biscuits were able to reach that number four years ahead of pace.
The milestone comes during an unprecedented year for the Biscuits in which they hosted their parent affiliate, the Tampa Bay Rays, during "Rays at Riverwalk" presented by Wind Creek Hospitality, welcomed a new, live mascot, Miss Gravy the Duchess of Pork, and collaborated with the Montgomery Advertiser on a fun and unique "Hidden Cash" promotion.
The three millionth fan, Tyler Wilson, 11, of Coosada, AL, entered the gates at approximately 6:50 pm. Wilson was greeted by Big Mo, the Biscuit Bunch and the Biscuits front office staff with a congratulatory banner and balloons. Wilson received a Biscuits jersey, Biscuits hat, Biscuit Bucks and was upgraded to the Owner's seats for Monday night's game. Wilson will have the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch later this season as well as an invitation to the Owner's Suite at a future game.
"I'm really surprised," Wilson said. "I'm really excited to get to enjoy a night in the Owner's Suite."
The Biscuits are appreciative of the support that they have received from the community and the City of Montgomery.
"We continue to be honored to have the relationship with the region and our landlord, the City of Montgomery, that allows us to grow and innovate in the ways that meet fans needs," Biscuits Owner, Sherrie Myers, said.
The Montgomery Biscuits, class AA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays is a Minor League Baseball member of the Southern League. 2014 will be the Biscuit's eleventh season of operation at Riverwalk Stadium, the centerpiece of Downtown Montgomery, AL located at 200 Coosa Street. The muti-purpose facility hosts all 70 home games in addition to other events through the entire calendar year.
