HUNTSVILLE, ALA. - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves that affect the Generals roster. C John Hicks has been promoted to Triple-A Tacoma and in a corresponding move, C Steve Baron has been activated to Jackson's roster from Hi-A High Desert. The moves are made prior to tonight's 6:30 p.m. series finale at Huntsville. Baron will wear jersey #8 tonight.

Hicks, 24, batted .296 (56x189) with 3 home runs, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 27 RBI and 6 stolen bases in 53 games for the Generals this season. Since June 7, Hicks has reached base safely in 14 of 16 games, batting .364 (20x55) with 10 runs scored, 1 home run, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 8 RBI, 7 walks and 3 stolen bases. Hicks batted .321 during the month of June and was 5-for-11 with a homer, triple and 3 RBI to begin the month of July. Hicks has caught 373.2 innings this season and thrown out 43.6% of base stealers. In 133 Jackson games over the last two seasons Hicks hit .260 (126x485) with 11 home runs, 3 triples, 24 doubles, 19 stolen bases and 56 RBI. He was Seattle's 4th round draft choice in 2011 out of the University of Virginia and resides in Goochland, VA. Hicks is the No. 23 prospect for the Mariners, according to Baseball America.
Baron, 23, was batting .254 (36x142) with 1 home run, 1 triple, 10 doubles, 23 RBI and 3 stolen bases for High Desert this season. Baron has thrown out 44.4% (24CS/30SB) this season with the Mavs. In 2013, he spent the season with High Desert, appearing in a career-high 86 games. Baron was Seattle's supplemental first round selection (33rd overall) in the 2009 draft and was a graduate of John A. Ferguson (FL) High School.
