
Pensacola Snaps Mobile's Streak in 4-0 Shutout

MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears (54-35) had their four game win streak snapped as the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (38-51) shut out the Mobile 4-0 at Hank Aaron Stadium Monday night. Despite being kept scoreless for the eighth time this season, the BayBears have still won eight of their last ten games and find themselves just half a game back of the Huntsville Stars for the best overall record in the Southern League.
Pensacola scattered four runs over eight hits, scoring one run in the first inning when Yorman Rodriguez walked then advanced to third on a single from Brodie Greene and a throwing error by Jake Lamb. Ryan Wright drove in Rodriguez in the next at bat with a sacrifice fly to center.
The Blue Wahoos struck again with a run in the fifth with Seth-Mejias-Brean walked, advanced to third on single from Jesse Winker and scored on a RBI single from Travis Mattair.
In the sixth inning, Pensacola took a 4-0 lead after Greene reached with a lead-off single, Kyle Waldrop and Mejias-Brean both walked with one out and then Winker doubled to deep center, driving in both runs.
RHP Justin Fitzgerald (7-2) lost for just the second time in 2014. The righty allowed all four runs, three earned on four hits, walking four and striking out two in 5.1 innings of work. RHP Robert Stephenson (4-6) limited Mobile to just five hits, walking three and striking out six in six full shutout innings on the mound.
The BayBears left a total of 10 men on base and finished 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
Mobile and Pensacola conclude their five game series with the finale Tuesday scheduled for 7:05 PM. They BayBears will send RHP Mike Lee (5-4, 4.15) to the mound while RHP Ben Lively (0-1, 2.93) will take the hill for the Blue Wahoos.
