Loman to the DL, Maya to Mississippi

PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves first baseman Seth Loman has been placed on the disabled list with a left thumb fracture, retroactive to July 7. In corresponding moves, RHP Yunesky Maya has been transferred to Double-A Mississippi from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Loman, 28, was hitting .254 through 79 games with the Double-A Braves. He ranks fourth in the Southern League with 53 RBI on the season. The first baseman was leading the M-Braves club with 11 home runs and 53 RBI. He also had 19 doubles. Loman was signed by the Braves as a free agent on November 7, 2013.

Maya, 31, was 3-3 with a 2.63 ERA in 17 games at Triple-A Gwinnett. He made three relief appearances before joining the Gwinnett starting rotation in mid-April. Maya posted his best numbers during the month of June when he went 2-1 with a 1.37 ERA in six starts for the G-Braves. Maya has spent parts of three seasons (2010-11, 13) in the big leagues with the Nationals (1-5, 5.80). The Cuban was signed by the Braves as a minor-league free agent on December 6, 2013.

The Mississippi roster has 25 active players and 6 disabled.
