MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Montgomery Biscuits will celebrate members of the military Saturday, May 7 at Riverwalk Stadium when the Biscuits take on the Birmingham Barons at 6:35 p.m. as part of Military Appreciation Night.

Now in it's twelfth year, Military Appreciation Night, was designed to recognize the accomplishments of our local military and the impact its members have here in the River Region.

"This night is full of special entertainment, video sensations and recognition events unlike any other night," Biscuits Owner, Sherrie Myers said.

Through a partnership with the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, the Biscuits have been able to provide an evening of fun and fellowship for our local military families.

"Military Appreciation Night is a celebration of the partnership between the Montgomery area community, Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, and the entire military community that call Montgomery home," Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Chief of Staff, Anna Buckalew said. "The Chamber, through the support of its business members, provides discounted tickets to military personnel as just one small way to demonstrate our sincere appreciation for our military families and all they do to protect and preserve our freedom."

Gates for Military Appreciation Night open at 5:20 p.m. and fans will be welcomed with music from local 18-piece jazz band, the Recreators, a military favorite.

The night's pre-game ceremonies will begin on the field at 6:00 p.m. as a member from the Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and International Officers School will throw a ceremonial first pitch.

Following ceremonial first pitches, over 90 young men and women will take the oath of enlistment administered by Lieutenant General Stephen L. Kwast, Commander and President of Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base. Joining enlistees on the field will be over 40 cadets from the Air Force Officer Training School. Since 2005, over 500 men and women have taken the oath of enlistment on the field at Riverwalk Stadium.

"The on-field enlistment ceremony is a great example to our young fans of how young men and women can have an significant impact to our country by committing a portion of their lives to defend our country," Biscuits General Manager, Scott Trible said.

Following the enlistment ceremony, a joint services honor guard will present the colors and a military firing party will honor those serving our country with a traditional 21-rifle salute.

Post-game all members of the military will be recognized by a playing of each branches' cadence before a MASSIVE, military-themed, MAX Fireworks Show.

Tickets for Military Appreciation Night can be purchased at the Biscuits Box Office, over the phone at 334-323-2255 or by visiting www.biscuitsbaseball.com.
