Montgomery Biscuits News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Ten - Despite coming back from three runs down to take a 6-4 lead in the sixth, the Biscuits (13-11) squandered their lead and the series, falling 9-6 to the Chattanooga Lookouts (11-14) on Monday night at AT&T Field.

Montgomery lefty Chris Kirsch (2-0) was making his fourth start of the season, but the left-hander was not at his best, giving up a season-high four runs through the first two innings. The southpaw would settle down though, as Mike Marjama delivered an RBI-double to put the Biscuits on the board in the top half of the second.

It was 4-1 Lookouts until the fifth, when the Biscuits got RBIs from Juniel Querecuto on a triple, and Granden Goetzman and Johnny Field with a double apiece for three straight RBI-extra-base-hits off Chattanooga starter Ryan Eades. That tied the game at four.

In the sixth, the Biscuits hacked away again, and took the lead on a Goetzman two-run single to put Montgomery ahead 6-4. Goetzman would finish the game 4-for4. Jared Mortensen (2-2) then entered the game out of the Biscuits bullpen, and after striking out the first six batters he faced, pegged two consecutive Lookouts before Leo Reginatto hit a double to cut the deficit in half. Then Brett Marshall came in, and allowed the go-ahead two-run double to Joe Maloney in the bottom of the seventh.

The Lookouts didn't look back, and added on a pair of insurance runs on their way to the win, in what was the first Biscuits series loss since their opener against the Jackson Generals.

The Biscuits will have a day off on Tuesday as they journey back to Montgomery, but will open up a ten-game home stand starting with the Birmingham Barons on Wednesday, May 4 at 7:05 PM when it will be Military Wednesday with Craft Beer Fest at Riverwalk Stadium.
