Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Montgomery Biscuits announce Charities Night on Friday August 29, complete with a game worn Jersey Auction, Kids Eat FREE and following the game, a MAX Fireworks Spectacular.
"United Way is honored to be one of the Montgomery Biscuits' charities," said Larry Puckett, 2014 Campaign Chair for the River Region United Way. "Charities Night with the Jersey Auction is one of the highlights of our year. We are grateful for the Biscuits' continued support and their commitment to benefit youth in the greater Montgomery community."
In addition to the Jersey Auction, the Biscuits will be auctioning off an autographed Joe Maddon nameplate and a baseball signed by the Tampa Bay Rays. The jerseys will include Biscuits' home jerseys for players like first-rounders Grayson Garvin and Richie Shaffer as well as top-10 Rays' prospect Ryan Brett and many more. All proceeds of the auction will go to the River Region United Way.
The auction will begin with an online portion that opens on Monday, August 24 at noon. Fans can bid for the game-worn jerseys by visiting www.32auctions.com/biscuitsbaseball2014. The online auction will run through noon on Friday, August 29. All fans who come to the game can bid on items at Riverwalk as soon as gates open at 5:50 PM until the end of the fourth inning. The starting bids for the on-site auction will start where the online auction concluded. The winners will be announced immediately following the game.
"We're so thrilled to host this perennial event and put an exclamation point on our 11th season here in Montgomery," said Owner Sherrie Myers. "Charities Night has a tradition of being a great event for fans to enjoy and all of us to appreciate and give back to the special organizations in the River Region."
Along with River Region United Way, the Biscuits hold Charities Night in honor of all Biscuits' charities including Family Sunshine Center, Boys & Girls Club of the River Region, Magic Moments and YMCA of Greater Montgomery. Inrecognition of the social media craze that has already raised millions of dollars for ALS, Myers will be taking the "Ice Bucket Challenge" on Friday night at the game.
Payment for auction items is due at the box office once Charities Night concludes. Cash or credit cards are accepted. Jerseys may be picked up anytime from 9am-5pm at the Administrative Office at Riverwalk Stadium one week following the conclusion of the season or receive them by mail. Standard shipping rates apply to bidders wishing to have their jerseys mailed. To coordinate jersey pickup outside the standard one-week pickup timeframe contact Kristen Rheinlander at krheinlander@biscuitsbaseball.com.
For tickets to Charities Night or any of games during the Biscuits' final home-stand, visit BiscuitsBaseball.com or call the box office at 334-323-2255.
