Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Cincinnati Reds) vs. Montgomery Biscuits (Tampa Bay Rays)
Three to Watch on the Montgomery Biscuits:
Justin O'Conner, C:
Justin O'Conner became the first catcher drafted by the Rays in the 1st round back in 2010. After hitting .233 with Low-A Bowling Green in 2013, O'Connor has put it together this season while playing 80 games with High-A Charlotte. He hit .282 with 10 home runs and 44 RBI before receiving a promotion to the Biscuits. O'Connor has hit at least ten home runs in each of the last two seasons.
Dylan Floro, RHP:
Dylan Floro has pitched all of 2014 with the Biscuits. Floro was the Rays' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2013 after earning a 1.77 ERA. Floro was drafted in the 13th round of the 2012 draft out of Cal State-Fullerton. Floro is the 26th best prospect in Tampa Bay's system according to Baseball America. Floro had a fantastic June; he went 3-1 with a 1.49 ERA. He has struggled against the Wahoos this season going 1-2 with a 5.71 ERA.
Grayson Garvin, LHP:
Grayson Garvin was drafted in the first round out of Vanderbilt in 2011. Scouts love his mound presence and the way he uses his 6-foot-6 frame to throw downhill at batters. The lefty has a good changeup and throws a cutter in the 85-88 mph range. Garvin is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA against the Blue Wahoos this season.
