
Birmingham Defeats Santa Cruz, 127-112, in Literacy Day Matinee

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, defeated the visiting Santa Cruz Warriors 127-112 on Tuesday at Legacy Arena at the BJCC. The game served as Birmingham's second annual Literacy Day event.
Birmingham (7-19) led by six after the first quarter and two at intermission, but the Warriors stormed back in the third to take a four-point advantage into the final stanza. The Squadron outscored Santa Cruz by 20 (40-20) in the fourth.
Two-way guard Dereon Seabron led Birmingham in scoring with 22, while forward James Kelly, Sr. recorded his third-consecutive double-double with 21 points and 14 boards.
Santa Cruz was paced by Moses Moody's 25 and Jerome Robinson's 20 points.
Birmingham returns to Legacy Arena on Thursday as the Squadron play host to Santa Cruz once again. Tip-Off on Women's Empowerment Night is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen on My68 WABM and ESPN+.
