MISSISSAUGA, Ontario. - NBA G League Ignite (9-15) fell to the Raptors 905 (13-10), 127-108, on Monday at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
John Jenkins led the way for Ignite after finishing with 23 points and three rebounds on 10-of-20 shots from the field, including 2-of-5 from behind the arc. Eric Mika nearly recorded his second triple-double of the season after posting 20 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists. Mika notched his twelfth double-double of the season, which ties teammate Leonard Miller for the most in a single season in Ignite history. Leonard Miller added 20 points and eight rebounds in his homecoming.
The 905 was led by Jeff Dowtin Jr., who tallied 25 points, four assists and three rebounds on 10-of-13 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 from the three-point line. Ron Harper Jr. followed with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists. Sterling Brown had a big night, as he recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
In the opening quarter, John Jenkins caught fire early by scoring Ignite's first nine points en route to a 12-point quarter on 5-of-7 shots from the field, including 2-of-3 from the three-point line. The 905 held a 19-18 advantage with under four minutes remaining and closed the frame by using a 15-2 run to take a 14-point lead. Jeff Dowtin Jr., of 905, poured 13 of his 25 points in the period on 5-of-5 shooting from the field. The 905 held its lead for the remainder of the half after stellar shooting from the field to take a 64-50 lead at the halfway mark.
After being down as much as 16 points in the first half, Ignite chipped away at its deficit to take a three-point lead towards the end of the third quarter behind Scoot Henderson, who poured in 12 of his 14 points in the frame. Tensions began to flare soon after Ignite took the lead after both teams got tagged with a double technical, which resulted in an ejection for Henderson after picking up his second technical in the game with under two minutes remaining in the quarter. At that point, the momentum shifted in favor of the 905, as they outscored Ignite 46-24 for the remainder of regulation while taking its largest lead of 21 points in the fourth quarter to claim the victory.
