Raptors 905 (13-10), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors defeated the G League Ignite (9-15) 127-108 Monday evening. Sterling Brown earned his first career triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, adding three steals and a block to the stat sheet. Eric Mika led Ignite with a near triple-double of his own, putting up 20 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists, a steal, and a block.
The two teams opened the ball game trading baskets before a late run by the 905 allowed them to take the 34-20 lead going into the second. John Jenkins' (23 points, three rebounds) and Jeff Dowtin Jr. lead the way for their teams with 12 and 13 first-quarter points respectively. The two teams played an evenly matched second quarter allowing the 905 to hold onto the 14-point advantage going into the break.
The visitors found their rhythm in the third quarter bringing the game within one behind a balanced scoring effort late in the third. However, the 905 were able to hold onto the five-point advantage going into the final frame. The 905 continued to build off their momentum in the fourth outscoring the visitors 34-20, and securing a franchise-first win over Ignite in Mississauga.
The Raptors 905 saw complementary scoring from Dowtin Jr. who added 25 points, three rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a career-high three blocks in the match. Toronto native Leonard Miller contributed 16 points, eight rebounds, a steal, and two blocks in the loss.
The 905 continue their homestand Wednesday with back-to-back matches against the Delaware Blue Coats, tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm. G League Ignite continues their road trip in College Park, taking on the Skyhawks Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
