
Wisconsin Herd Suffers Loss against Lakeland Magic

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Lakeland Magic 116-111. The Herd came out firing, hitting four three-point shots to start the game and take a 12-4 lead. The Herd continued to push ahead to a 33-20 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Herd increased their lead to 15 points, but it was quickly overcome by the Magic in the second quarter. Lakeland built a nine-point lead by the end of the first half and later expanded to double-digits in the third. The Herd slowly crawled back to tie the game 105-105 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.
MarJon Beauchamp, Milwaukee Bucks assignment player, and Lindell Wigginton led the Herd with 24 points each while Paris Bass followed with a double-double of 20 points and 19 rebounds.
Kevon Harris guided the Magic with 27 points while Jay Scrubb added 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Lakeland scored the first basket of the game, but the Herd responded with three consecutive three-point shots to take a seven-point lead. The Magic completed a layup before Lindell Wigginton added a fourth three-point shot for the Herd. Lakeland worked their way back to within three points, but the Herd put the Magic in the dust with 10 unanswered points. The Magic countered once again to bring the Herd's lead down to 10 points, but Lindell Wigginton and Elijah Hughes hit a basket each to put the Herd ahead 33-20 at the end of the first quarter.
The Herd outscored the Magic 8-3 to go ahead by 15 points at the beginning of the second quarter, but the Magic answered with back-to-back three-point shots. Rob Edwards scored consecutive baskets to put the Herd back in a double-digit lead. Lakeland went on a huge run, outscoring the Herd 19-2 to take the lead 54-48 with a minute left in the second quarter. Lakeland held on to lead 57-48 at the end of the first half. Lindell Wigginton led the Herd with 13 points.
The Magic made a layup to start the third quarter, but MarJon Beauchamp and Paris Bass combined for five points to bring the Herd within eight. The Lakeland Magic battled ahead to a 14-point lead with seven minutes remaining in the game. The Herd went on a small run, including back-to-back baskets from Iverson Molinar, to cut down the Magic's lead. Lindell Wigginton and Rob Edwards combined for seven points to answer every Magic attempt, until they outscored the Herd 7-4 to lead 87-79 at the end of the third quarter.
Iverson Molinar scored three consecutive baskets to open the fourth quarter. MarJon Beauchamp followed with his own set of back-to-back baskets to bring the Herd within six points at the nine-minute mark. The two teams traded baskets until Paris Bass and Lindell Wigginton scored succeeding baskets to cut the Magic's lead to four. The Magic hit a layup before Wisconsin hit six straight points to tie the game 105-105 with three minutes remaining. Lakeland scored the next eight baskets before MarJon Beauchamp hit a three. Both teams made three free throws to close out the game. The Lakeland Magic won 116-111.
The Herd will take on the Lakeland Magic again on Thursday, March 9 with tip-off set for 9:30 a.m. CST.
