Binnington Gets P-Bruins First Shutout of the Season in 5-0 Win

Hartford, CT - The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday night 5-0 to put an end to their two-game losing streak. The P-Bruins got goals from Zach Senyshyn, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, Josh Hennessy, Kenny Agostino and Colton Hargrove while Jordan Binnington made the start in goal.

Hartford came out with some spring in their step, but it was Providence that would open the scoring on their first shot of the game. Off a face-off, Colton Hargrove grabbed the puck and fed Senyshyn flying up the left boards. He went hard to the net and at 5:13 slid the puck through the five-hole of Chris Nell, scoring his second goal of the season and giving Providence a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later the P-Bruins extended their lead thanks to their first power play of the night. Matt Grzelcyk sent a pass across the blue line to Kenny Agostino at the left point. His slap-pass was deflected perfectly by Forsbacka Karlsson between the hashmarks for his third goal of the season as Providence took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

The second period was all P-Bruins as they dominated play and scored three goals in the period. The first came via the power play, as Hennessy grabbed the long rebound off a shot from Sena Acolatse and scored from the right slot for his second goal of the season at 5:54. The team's top line all got involved at 11:10 to give Providence a 4-0 lead. Ryan Fitzgerald entered the zone and passed the puck to Forsbacka Karlsson. He found Agostino alone in the left slot and he ripped one through for his third goal of the season.

The Wolf Pack made a change in net pulling Nell in favor of Alexandar Georgiev, but the P-Bruins offense continued to shine. They capped the period off with an unassisted goal from Hargrove, who stole the puck and quickly scored off a wraparound on the right side for his third of the season. Behind one of their most dominant period of the season, Providence led 5-0 after 40 minutes. That was all the offense the team needed as they were able to cruise behind Binnington in the third. He was up to the task on each shot he faced as a night after getting shutout for the first time, Providence posted their first shutout of the season 5-0.

Binnington stopped all 33 shots he faced for his second win as a member of the Bruins. Nell stopped 16 of 20 shots before being pulled for Georgiev, who stopped 8 of 9 shots in relief. Providence was 2-3 on the power play and 5-5 on the penalty kill. The P-Bruins will conclude their three-game weekend tomorrow afternoon when they welcome the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to the Dunk at 3:05pm.
