
Bighorns dominate second half

RENO, Nevada, January 1, 2011 - Seth Tarver had 19 points and seven rebounds, but the Stampede (2-13) surrendered 32 third quarter points in a 107-85 loss to the Reno Bighorns (10-5) at the Reno Events Center on New Year's Day. New Stampeder Cedric Jackson had 11 points, eight assists and four steals. Antoine Walker (16 points, four assists, four rebounds) and Lance Hurdle (15 points, two steals) supplied the scoring off the bench.
Fellow new Stampeder Jermareo Davidson contributed eight points and five rebounds. In the second half, the Stampede failed to make a three-point shot out of eight attempts and made just 14-of-40 field goals (35.0 percent).
Reno shot 57.9 percent (11-of-19) in the third quarter, taking a tie game to a 13-point advantage; for the game, the Bighorns made 11-of-21 (52.4 percent) from the three-point line. Both teams turned the ball over a lot, with Idaho committing 25 turnovers and Reno giving it away 22 times.
The Stampede play the Bighorns again tomorrow at 4 p.m. (MT).
