T-Birds Rally to Beat Legends

Frisco, TX - The New Mexico Thunderbirds (9-6) came back from down nine points in the fourth quarter to beat the Texas Legends (8-7) by a score of 114-105.

The Legends held a nine-point lead early on in the fourth quarter. Led by Josh Bostic, who had a game high 30 points, the Thunderbirds went on a 30-13 run over the next eight minutes to take control of the game.

Shane Edwards added 21 points and Jamine Peterson, playing in his second game with the T-Birds, also had 21 points on 10-for-13 shooting.

In the first quarter, the Legends raced out to an early 11-2 and led by as many as 10 points. The Thunderbirds answered with a 22-6 run to take a 27-21 lead after one quarter. Bostic didn't hit a field goal in the first quarter, but was 7-for-7 from the free line and led the Thunderbirds with seven points in the quarter.

Peterson hit a layup with 4:52 remaining in the second quarter to give the Thunderbirds a 52-38 lead. Texas answered with a 12-1 run to cut the Thunderbirds lead to three points. The T-Birds would lead 57-55 at the half.

With the Thunderbirds leading by four in the third quarter, the Legends ripped off a 15-0 run to take a 76-65 lead. The T-Birds scored six of the final eight points in the quarter and trailed 78-71 heading into the fourth.

The Thunderbirds return home for two games against the Springfield Armor on Tuesday Jan. 4 and Wednesday Jan. 5. Both games are at 7:30 p.m. at the Santa Ana Star Center.
