
Legends Comeback Falls Short in Loss

Frisco, TXanuary 2, 2011) - The Texas Legends lost their second home game in as many night's, falling 114-105 to the New Mexico Thunderbirds on Sunday night at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.
The Legends started the game on top 15-5, but the Thunderbirds outscored Texas 22-6 over the final seven minutes of the first quarter and then began the second on a 14-5 spurt to take a commanding 15 point lead.
Down by 14 with under five minutes to go in the first half, the Legends went on a 17-5 sprint to cut the deficit to just two going into the break.
Trailing 65-61 in the third quarter, the Legends would use a huge 15-0 run, fueled by Justin Dentmon and Joe Alexander, to take their largest lead of the game at 11.
For the second night in a row the Legends would see a lead evaporate in the fourth quarter. Although the Legends led by as much as eight in the fourth, the Thunderbirds would outscore Texas 43-27 in the quarter to preserve the victory.
Sean Williams provided the Legends with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Justin Dentmon added a season-high 29 points.
New Mexico was led by a trio of 20-point scorers, including Josh Bostic (30), Shane Edwards (21) and Jamine Peterson (21).
The Legends fell to 8-7 overall after the loss, while the Thunderbirds improved to 9-6 on the year.
The Legends will continue a five-game home stand on Friday night, with the first ever meeting against the Springfield Armor. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m..
