Dayton, OH - The Dayton Dragons (6-10) bullpen has been an enigma for the team early on in 2006. The up and down bullpen was a strength for the club on Saturday as starter Travis Wood (WP, 2-0) and reliever Bo Lanier (SV, 1) combined to hold the Kane County Cougars, the MWL's best hitting team, to two runs and six hits in a 7-2 win in the second game of the four game series at Fifth Third Field.

8,833, the largest crowd of the 2006 season, packed the stands and got a great show from the home team as Bobby Mosby provided plenty of stick with a 3-3 night and four RBI to pace the Dragons offensively. Mike Griffin added a three hit night for the Miami Valley's Team and was also the cog on three double plays including a spectacular 4-6-3 turn to close out the game in the ninth.

Wood tossed 5.0 innings for the Dragons, allowing a pair of runs on four hits including a Jose Pineda homer in the top of the second and a Justin Sellers RBI single in the fourth. The left hander struck out three, walked three and tossed a pair of wild pitches. Lanier entered the game in the sixth inning and picked up his first career save by throwing plenty of strikes. He allowed two hits but faced the minimum of 12 batters in his 4.0 innings of work by throwing two double play balls. In the ninth, Lanier threw 11 pitches, ten of which were strikes.

Cougars starter Trey Shields (LP, 2-2) also lasted 5.0 innings but allowed three runs in his stint. He was victimized in the second by an error from first baseman Steve Kleen that allowed B.J. Szymanski to reach first. A two out walk to Craig Tatum extended the inning for Mosby who delivered a two RBI double into the Dragons bullpen in left to give the Dragons its first lead at 2-1. Shields struck out one and walked two on the night and hit a batter as well.

Dayton put a 3-2 game away with two in the sixth inning on Eric Eymann's RBI double and Mosby's SAC fly. The Dragons added single runs in the seventh and eighth to extend the lead to 7-2. Dayton scored on a double play ball in the seventh and Mosby added his fourth rib in the eighth on a single.

The Dragons continue the four game series vs. the Kane County Cougars Sunday afternoon. 1410 ESPN Radio WING AM will carry the game live beginning with the pre game show at 1:30 PM. Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM. All Dragons games in 2006 can also be heard live on the internet at www.daytondragons.com RHP Carlos Fisher (1-1, 5.28 ERA) get the start for the Dragons while RHP Vince Mazzaro (2-0, 6.00 ERA) gets the start for Kane County.
