ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Memphis Redbirds (2-0) continued to flex their muscles on Friday night, racing past the Round Rock Express (0-2) by a final tally of 17-4. Memphis did most of their damage in a 12-run seventh inning that saw 17 hitters reach the plate.

Express starter RHP Adrian Sampson (0-1, 10.38) took the loss after surrendering five runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings of work. The righty struck out five and walked two. Redbirds RHP Dakota Hudson (1-0, 5.06) picked up the victory after limiting the E-Train to three runs on six hits in 5.1 frames.

Much like last night, Memphis opened the scoring with a two-run home run. This time, it was LF Tyler O'Neill blasting a shot to deep left-center field, scoring 2B Max Schrock in the process. An inning later, the visitors tacked on another run as SS Wilfredo Tovar reached on a fielder's choice before scoring on a Randy Arozarena single.

Round Rock responded in the bottom of the frame. LF Willie Calhoun and 1B Ronald Guzman tallied back-to-back doubles, the latest of which scored the first Express run of the night. A Cameron Rupp groundout two batters later allowed Guzman to score, trimming the gap to 3-2.

In the fifth, O'Neill stepped to the plate and launched his second two-run homer of the night, a shot to right that once again scored Schrock. Express CF Jose Cardona singled home 2B Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the bottom of the frame to cut the score to 5-3.

However, Memphis responded with a record-setting seventh inning. The Redbirds sent 17 men to the plate in a frame that saw 12 runs score on six hits, six walks and two errors. The effort marked the most runs allowed by a Round Rock team in a single inning in the franchise's Triple-A history.

E-Train RHP Steve Delabar opened the frame, allowing four runs, only two of which were earned, on one hit and two walks while striking out one. RHP Nick Gardewine then entered in relief, permitting five runs on two hits and three walks, recording just one out in the process. E-Train Manager Jason Wood then brought on RHP Reed Garrett to stop the rally. However, Garrett was tagged for three runs on three hits before he could record the final out.

Round Rock 3B Trevor Plouffe blasted the first Express home run of the season off Memphis RHP Andrew Morales in the bottom of the ninth, but the E-Train ultimately fell 17-4.

Round Rock and Memphis meet again on Saturday night with Express LHP Yohander Mendez (0-0, 0.00) scheduled to start against Redbirds LHP Austin Gomber (0-0, 0.00). First pitch at Dell Diamond is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
