Big day for Gonzalez, Cats' offense in 10-1 victory on Sunday

West Sacramento, Calif. - Behind the stellar performance of starter Gio Gonzalez and a big day from the offense, the River Cats defeated the Tucson Sidewinders, 10-1, at Raley Field on Sunday afternoon.

Gonzalez threw 6.0 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and struck out seven Sidewinders hitters. Gonzalez is now 3-3 with a 2.72 ERA at home this season.

Sacramento's offense got off to a quick start in the first inning, highlighted by Richie Robnett's two-run double. The River Cats put another four runs on the board in the seventh inning when Robnett doubled in another two runs followed by Danny Putnam's two-run single. Robnett finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored. Jesus Guzman hit his first home run as a River Cat with a solo home run in the fourth inning and Wes Bankston hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning. The River Cats have now hit at least one home run in 12 consecutive games.

Tucson's lone run came on Josh Whitesell's two-out RBI single off Gonzalez in the sixth inning.

The River Cats concluded their season series with Tucson, winning 12 of 16 games.
