Robnett's Bat, Gonzalez's Arm Lead River Cats Past Sidewinders

Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Sacramento, CA - Richie Robnett drove in four runs and Gio Gonzalez tossed six innings of one run baseball as the Sacramento Rivercats beat the Sidewinders 10-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Rivercats won the series three games to one.

Robnett's two run double to right-center highlighted a three run first for the Rivercats against Sidewinders starter A.J. Shappi. Shappi (0-2) allowed four runs on six hits in his four innings on the mound.

The Sidewinders, who had knocked Gonzalez around for 10 runs in 3.2 innings in his last start against them, couldn't muster much against the Sacramento left-hander on Sunday. Gonzalez (4-6) allowed just a run on three hits and posted seven strikeouts.

Jailen Peguero gave up six runs in two innings of relief work as the Rivercats put the game, and the series, away.

The Sidewinders return home on Monday night to open a four game series with the Fresno Grizzlies at Tucson Electric Park. Right-hander Billy Buckner (4-7, 4.98) starts for Tucson against right-hander Matt Palmer (2-8, 4.50). First pitch is at 7:00. The game will air live on CPOOL 1450 beginning at 6:50.
