Memphis shortstop Brian Barden hit a lead off home run in the first inning and the Redbirds finished off the Zephyrs in a four game sweep on Sunday winning 3-2. Barden led the game off with a home run and then Josh Phelps drew a two out walk and David Freese followed up with a two run home run to jump on the Z's 3-0. Memphis would not score again in the contest but its strong pitching held off the Z's. Memphis starter Mike Parisi had two losses in relief this week for St Louis was assigned to Memphis and pitched 7 and two third innings allowed two runs on four hits and earned the win. The Redbirds won for the seventh consecutive game and the Zephyrs lost their eighth in a row. The Z's offense heated up in the seventh scoring a run on a John Rodriguez RBI double. The Z's added another run in the eighth on a pinch hit single from Valentino Pascucci. Memphis closer Kelvin Jimenez entered the game in the eighth with the tying run on base and got the final out. He pitched a perfect ninth and earned his third save of the series. Memphis swept the Z's for the first time since 1999.

Game Notes: The Z's are a season high eight games under .500, their most since the 2006 season. New Orleans has lost a season high eight games, the club record is 11 consecutive losses. In the current eight game losing streak, the Z's have not led in any of the games. Jesus Feliciano extended his hit streak to 9 games. Argenis Reyes snapped a 17 game road hit streak on Saturday. The Zephyrs were swept for the fourth time this season.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs will open a four game series at Zephyr Field on Monday. The Z's will start RH Brandon Knight (2-0) and he matches up with Oklahoma RH Elizardo Ramirez. WIST-690 AM
