Bierfeldt's Grand Slam Gives Shorebirds 9-8 Win over BlueClaws

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Conor Bierfeldt hit a 7th inning grand slam to put Delmarva ahead and the Shorebirds went on to top the BlueClaws 9-8 on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park in front of 7,083 fans.

Bierfeldt, a Connecticut native, went 2-5 and drove in five in the game. His home run came off Lakewood reliever Will Morris (1-1) who took the loss after allowing six runs in 1.2 innings of work.

Carlos Tocci had four hits for the BlueClaws, while Andrew Pullin had three. Andrew Knapp, Zach Green, and Mitch Walding all had two hits for Lakewood (8-15/35-57).

Delmarva (12-11/50-42) reliever Williams Louico (1-1) gave up two runs in two innings but got the win. Alexander Santana gave up one run in two innings and Austin Urban struck out Knapp to end the game with the tying run on third base, earning his 4th save of the year.

The BlueClaws scored four times in the first inning including two on a triple by Zach Green and another on a double by Willians Astudillo.

Delmarva scored in 4th and 5th innings against Lakewood starter Yacksel Rios, who came out after allowing three runs in five innings. Will Morris came on in the 6th inning and gave up two runs before Bierfeldt's 7th inning grand slam put Delmarva ahead.

The game saw the teams combine for 17 runs on 28 hits, with runs in every half-inning between the 4th and 7th innings.

Gregory Lorenzo had three hits, three steals, and threw out Andrew Pullin trying to score from second on a 5th inning single.

The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05. RHP Ranfi Casimiro (2-8) throws for Lakewood against RHP Janser Severino, who will be making his first appearance of the season.
