Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The Asheville Tourists consistently pushed runs across the plate, and Kannapolis couldn't keep up as the Intimidators fell 11-1 on Friday night at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Kannapolis (43-47, 14-9 Second Half) dropped its third straight game.
The Tourists plated runs in every inning except the third, spreading out their offensive attached, which was paced by David Dahl. The Asheville outfielder went 4-6 with 3 RBI, including an RBI-double, and 3 runs scored. Dahl's 2-run single in the second inning pulled the Tourists ahead 3-1.
Asheville starter Alex Balog fanned a career-high nine batters over 7.0 innings. He kept Kannapolis off the scoreboard over his final six frames of work. Balog (7-3) limited the Intimidators to a run on four hits with two walks on his way to the win.
Kannapolis scored its lone run in the first inning when Christian Stringer homered (6) to right field to tie the game, 1-1.
Intimidators starter Tyler Barnette (2-5) took the loss, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits over 4.1 innings in his first appearance since returning from the Disabled List earlier in the week. Andrew Mitchell struck out three batters while allowing a run in a hitless relief inning.
The Intimidators and Tourists continue this 4-game series on Saturday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium at 7:05 p.m. Kannapolis will wear special pit crew themed jerseys during the game, which will be up for bid in a silent auction throughout the night to benefit the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation.
