Friday's Game Postponed Due to Unplayable Field Conditions

Savannah, Ga.- Friday's game between the Sand Gnats and the Charleston RiverDogs has been officially postponed due to unplayable field conditions from consistent rain.

The game will be made up as part of a double header on Monday, August 4, with a first pitch of 5:35 p.m.

Tickets already purchased for Friday's game will be honored as a rain check and can be exchanged for any 2014 regular season game, subject to availability. The St. Joseph's/Candler Facebook Friday coupons will be honored this Sunday, July 13, for TailsSpin Bark in the Park and Kia Country Kids Eat Free.

The Gnats will send RHP Robert Gsellman (7-3, 2.81) to the mound against LHP Chaz Hebert (0-2, 4.10) on Saturday for a first pitch of 6:05 p.m.

The Sand Gnats will also be celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the film Forrest Gump on Saturday for Forrest Gump Night brought to you by Old Savannah Tours. There will be plenty of Gump-themed promotions including a "Life is Like a Box of Chocolates" Giveaway to the first 500 fans. One box will even contain the famous feather that can be exchanged for a season pass for the rest of 2014 season.

The Forrest Gump character will be taking photos with fans for a limited amount of time when the gates open at 5:00 p.m.

After the game, fans can stay for a spectacular fireworks show.
