Bhullar and Smith each record double-doubles in win

Raptors 905 guard Scott Suggs recorded a personal season-high 29 points to lead his club to a 113-111 win over the Erie BayHawks Sunday afternoon at Erie Insurance Arena in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Suggs matched a Raptors 905 franchise best for points in a quarter with 15 in the first period to lead the Mississauga club to an early 39-27 advantage. In the first half of the second quarter, Erie had a 14-2 run to get the deficit to within four points, but Raptors 905 finished off the half with a 12-6 run to lead 61-49 at the break.

Erie put together a 20-8 run in a six-and-a-half-minute span in the third quarter to go from down 12 points to tie the game 71-71, but Raptors 905 closed out the frame on a 7-1 run to take a 78-72 advantage into the final period. Raptors 905 stretched its lead back to double digits early in the fourth quarter to take the lead for good. The BayHawks got to within two points in the dying seconds of the game, but Raptors 905 held on for its 15th win.

Scoring in double digits for Raptors 905 were Scott Suggs (game-high 29), Sim Bhullar (21), Greg Smith (21), Shannon Scott (13), Bruno Caboclo (12) and Melvin Johnson III (10). Bhullar added a game-high 14 rebounds to complete his sixth-straight double-double, while Smith contributed 12 rebounds for his fifth-straight double-double. Leading Erie in points were Melvin Ejim (25), Keith Appling (22), Branden Dawson (17), Tyler Harvey (16) and Alex Davis (13). Appling also had a game-high nine assists.

Raptors 905 led Erie in field goal percentage (47.4-44.0), three point percentage (50.0-33.3), free throw percentage (83.3-81.8) and second-chance points (20-18) while the BayHawks held the advantage in point in the paint (52-48) and fast-break points (26-21).

Raptors 905 is back in action Thursday, March 3 when it plays host to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at Hershey Centre in Mississauga at 7:30 p.m.
