
Santa Cruz Falls Short in Reno

RENO, Nev. - The defending NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (14-23) fell to the Reno Bighorns (25-12) 133-124 on Saturday at Reno Events Center.
Darington Hobson paced the Warriors with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Aaron Craft (19 pts, 10 ast) and Ronnie Brewer (10 pts, 12 reb) both recorded double- doubles, while Chris Udofia added 18 points, 8 rebounds, and a game-high five blocked shots.
Reno's David Stockton and Erick Green both posted a game-high 26 points apiece, with Stockton adding 9 assists. Duje Dukan, on assignment from the Sacramento Kings, notched 22 points and 6 rebounds, while Ricky Ledo recorded 17 points and five assists.
Reno would jump out to five-point cushion early in the opening frame, but Santa Cruz would come back to tie the score at 13 points at the 7:20 mark. Both teams would trade buckets for the remainder of the first quarter, with Reno entering the second period leading 33-30.
The Warriors would keep the score close to open the second quarter until Reno's 22-4 run to take a 61-42 lead by the 3:33 mark in the frame. The Bighorns would remain on top for the final three and a half minutes of the first half, entering the locker room with a 70-51 advantage.
Reno would control the scoreboard throughout the third quarter, keeping the Warriors at bay with a double-digit advantage. Santa Cruz entered the fourth quarter trailing Reno 99-81.
Santa Cruz opened the fourth quarter outscoring Reno 22-13, behind four combined three-pointers from Hobson, Craft and newly acquired Mychel Thompson, to trail the Bighorns 112-103 with just under seven minutes remaining. The Warriors would fall short of a comeback victory, ultimately dropping to Reno 133-124.
