Canton Sweeps February with Win

The Canton Charge (24-13), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Delaware 87ers (17-21), 125-120, at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Sunday afternoon. The victory extends Canton's franchise record win streak to 12 games, as they took all 10 contests they played in the month of February and 19 of their last 21 overall.

Nick Minnerath tied for the team-high in scoring with 29 points on 10-of-13 shooting and five rebounds in 35 minutes off the bench. Quinn Cook netted 29 points with seven assists in 35 minutes. Canton's 125 points scored set a new season-high for a game along with their efficient 49-of-86 shooting as a unit (57%) becoming a new high for field goal percentage in a game.

After Delaware went up 2-0 to start the game, the Charge responded with a 7-0 run that would be the start of 44:51 consecutive minutes of game time that they would hold a lead that was as many as 16. The 87ers got the advantage back for the first time since the game's opening basket when a Rodney Carney three-pointer gave them a 118-117 lead with 1:31 to play. A Cook triple on the next possession coupled with an ensuing Mike Stockton steal and layup put Canton back up 122-118 and ahead for the remainder of the contest.

Delaware's Christian Wood had a career-best scoring day by netting 45 points on 19-of-26 shooting to go along with 14 rebounds and three steals in 43 minutes. Russ Smith also had a double-double by netting 16 points and dishing 16 assists with eight rebounds and nine turnovers in 35 minutes. Ty Greene added 19 points and five rebounds, while Carney finished with 16 points off the bench for the 87ers.

Stockton supplied a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists with four steals in 37 minutes. John Holland scored 17 points and nabbed a season-high five steals in 29 minutes for Canton. The Charge also enjoyed their most efficient three-point shooting game of the season this afternoon by nailing 14-of-25 attempts (56%).

Canton will next hit the road for a game with a visit to the Westchester Knicks (New York Knicks affiliate on Thursday, March 3rd at 7:00 p.m. The Charge are back home on Saturday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. to host the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers affiliate).
