Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, 2011-12 Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, have announced that Los Angeles Kings prospect goaltender, JF Berube, has been re-assigned to Ontario from Manchester (AHL).
Berube, 21, spent his rookie season with the Reign last year finishing the season with a career-high 0.907 save percentage and 2.87 goals against average. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound goalie also finished the season tied for the most shut outs in the league with four. Berube set an ECHL regular-season record with Chris Carrozzi as the pair combined for 224 minutes and 14 seconds of consecutive shutout hockey over four games from January, 6 through January, 13. He also represented the Reign as the 2012 Golden Goalie.
The Repitigny, Quebec native made his professional debut with the Manchester Monarchs in 2009 when he was first drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fourth round of 2009 NHL Entry Draft (#95 overall). Berube played three games with the Monarchs stopping 65 of 76 shots.
Before turning pro, Berube played for the Montreal Juniors in the QMJHL for 118 games with an overall save percentage of 0.900 and goals against average of 2.796. He also recorded five shutouts through his junior career.
