
Stingrays Receive Three from Providence

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that goaltender Adam Morrison, forward Tyler Randell and defenseman Tommy Cross have been assigned to the team from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
Morrison, 21, appeared in 55 games with the Vancouver Giants of the WHL last season going 35-16-3 with a 2.75 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage. After his juniors season, the White Rock, British Columbia, native made his professional debut with the Bruins (AHL) on April 14, 2012 stopping 35 of 39 shots against the Albany Devils in a 4-2 loss. Morrison was selected in the third round (81st overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Randell, 21, skated in 30 games with the Bruins (AHL) last season scoring two goals after starting the year in junior hockey with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL. In five seasons with the Rangers and Belleville Bulls (OHL), the Scarborough, Ontario, product totaled 111 points (68 goals, 48 assists) and 392 penalty minutes in 267 games. Randell is a sixth round selection (176th overall) by the Bruins (NHL) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Cross, 23, enters his first full professional season after completing a four-year college career at Boston College grabbing 60 points (17 goals, 43 assists) in 134 games and helping the Golden Eagles to NCAA championships in 2010 and 2012. Also in 2010, the Simsbury, Connecticut, native was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team. Cross was chosen by the Bruins (NHL) in the second round (35th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
