Belters Take Second Game of Series in Normal
August 8, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Rockford Aviators News Release
NORMAL, IL - The Aviators fell to the Normal CornBelters for the 2nd time in as many days on Saturday, this time by a final of 11-0. The CornBelters used a 9-run explosion over the first 3 innings and a shutdown, complete game performance by Michael Schweiss to shrink the Aviators' division lead to just 1 game.
The CornBelters were able to get to Aves starter Nick Grim for 9 runs, 7 of them earned, early in the game. Grim was knocked out in the 3rd, and Roberto Padilla, Eric Cendejas, Matt Frahm, and Patrick Dolan would all pitch in relief.
Michael Schweiss went all 9 for the CornBelters, striking out 14 while allowing just 3 hits. Anthony Renteria, Dusty Robinson, and Justin Fox were the only ones able to tag him for hits.
The Aviators turned 4 double plays in the game, their 2nd highest total of the season.
The series in Normal concludes tomorrow at 3:05. Tony Rizzotti is expected to go for the Aviators against RHP Robert Baroniel for the Belters.
