Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The Beloit Snappers snapped a three-game winning streak as they fell to the Burlington Bees 6-2 Wednesday night.

The Bees used a five-run third inning en route to the victory and improved to 10-9 in the second half of the season while the Snappers dropped to 5-13.

Alfonso Alcantara picked up the win for the Bees (5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER) while Lou Trivino (2.1 IP, 6 H, 4 ER) dropped to 4-8 on the season with the loss for Beloit.

After Burlington put up a run in the second inning, the Bees' bats exploded in the third inning for five runs to take a 6-0 lead.

Stephen McGee began the damage with a three-run home run to left field, his first home run of the season.

After Ryan Dalton singled in the next at-bat following the home run, Trivino left the game with a possible finger injury. Trevor Bayless quickly jogged on to replace Trivino and hit Tyler Palmer in his first pitch from the mound.

Bayless walked Ranyelmy Mendoza in the next at-bat and Erick Salcedo capitalized with a two-run single to right field to give Burlington a 6-0 lead.

The Snappers were able to turn a double play off a groundball from Kody Eaves to end the third inning and limit any further run production from the Bees.

Beloit got on the board in the fourth inning behind an RBI-single from Ryan Mathews, his sixth RBI of the series. Tyler Marincov drove home Justin Higley in the next at-bat, as Marincov continued his hot streak against Burlington in this series (5-for-6 in the series).

The Snappers couldn't cut into the four-run deficit, however, despite loading the bases with a Chih-Fang Pan sacrifice bunt and a Jose Chavez walk. Branden Cogswell ended the inning with a groundout double play and the Snappers stranded three runners on base.

Beloit and Burlington conclude their three-game series Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at Pohlman Field.
