Burlington Bees News Release
Beloit, WI- A pair of -timed doubles in the second inning on Saturday night was all it took to send the Beloit Snappers on their way to a series-tying 5-1 win over the Burlington Bees at Pohlman Field.
Bees starter Nick Wooley (L, 1-2) was battered for five consecutive hits in the four-run frame, including back-to-back two-run doubles from Tobias Streich and James Beresford. Wooley walked four and allowed six hits in five innings.
Burlington scored in the third when Joey Lewis doubled with a man on, but the Snappers pushed the lead back to four when a Bryan Paukovits throwing error allowed a runner to come home in the seventh.
Paukovits performed well otherwise, lowering his ERA to 2.42 by allowing only the single unearned tally in three innings. He was touched for two hits and walked no one with four strikeouts.
Beloit hurlers Brad Stillings (W, 1-2) and Kane Holbrooks (S, 2) combined to scatter nine hits and strike out ten on the night. The performance was a marked improvement over Stillings's last start in Burlington when he allowed eight runs in two innings.
Juan Graterol followed up his 4-for-5 performance on Friday with another two-hit game. Lewis and Gerard Hall each had multiple hits as well.
The Bees and Snappers close out the three-game series on Sunday with a 2:00 contest at Pohlman Field. Join Nick Devlin for the Casebine Community Credit Union Pregame Show at 1:40 on News Radio 1490 KBUR.
