Younger Promoted to Rancho; Karcich Joins Kernels

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that INF Adam Younger has been promoted to Rancho Cucamonga and that INF Jon Karcich will join the Kernels from extended Spring Training. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Tuesday.

Karcich was selected by the Angels in the seventh round of the 2009 Free Agent Draft out of Santa Clara University. He spent 2009 at Orem, where he hit .235 in 53 games with 5 HR, 22 RBI and eleven doubles.

Younger played in 23 games for the Kernels, batting .156 with 3 HR and 11 RBI.

Jon will join the team in Appleton and be in uniform for today's 1:05 pm game against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

With today's transactions, the Kernels roster stands at the MWL maximum of 25 active players with one player on the disabled list.

The Kernels continue a six game road trip in Appleton, WI today and return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, May 10. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.kernels.com , or by calling the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560. Ticket office hours are 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
