Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Post-season California League Awards were announced by the California League earlier today and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are represented by a pair of players as well as another exciting honor in 2015.
First baseman Cody Bellinger and catcher Tyler Ogle have both been named as California League Post-Season All-Stars. In addition, LoanMart Field Head Groundskeeper Rex Whitney has been named as the Turf Manager of the Year for the second straight season, making LoanMart Field the Field of the Year for 2015.
Bellinger, who just turned 20-years-old on July 13th, is currently among the Cal League leaders in a number of different categories. The Chandler, Arizona native is tied for second in the league with 26 homers, fourth in RBIs with 87, first in runs scored (84), tied for first in extra-base hits (60) and fourth in total bases (226). Bellinger, who was named to the post-season team as the designated hitter, was a mid-season All-Star for the Quakes, competing in the California League vs. Carolina League All-Star Game as the starting first baseman at LoanMart Field back on June 23rd.
Ogle has enjoyed a break-out season, leading all Cal League catchers in home runs (19) and RBIs (64). The Garden Ridge, Texas product is hitting .255 and has a .993 fielding percentage behind the plate.
For a second straight year, LoanMart Field will be recognized as the Field of the Year, with Head Groundskeeper Rex Whitney being honored by the California league for his leadership in keeping LoanMart Field one of the finest in all of Minor League Baseball.
The Quakes will look to complete what has already been a tremendous season with a trip to the California League Playoffs, as Rancho Cucamonga will host the winner of the South Division Mini-Series on Saturday, September 12th in the opening game of the South Division Finals, presented by San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino.
