Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - Alex Bregman collected three hits and finished a home run short of becoming the third JetHawks player to hit for the cycle this season, leading Lancaster to an 8-2 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Saturday night at The Diamond.

Bregman went 3-for-4 with a walk and drove in three runs for the JetHawks (65-60). Derek Fisher also recorded three hits and three RBI in the game, while James Ramsay went 1-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored.

Christian Powell (1-2) earned his first win for Lancaster, allowing just two hits over five scoreless innings of work.

The JetHawks took the lead in the second inning against Storm (46-79) starter Matt Shepherd (4-9). Jamie Ritchie walked and reached third on a Sean McMullen double before a two-run single by Marc Wik put Lancaster on the board. In the third, Ramsay doubled and scored on a Fisher single, and Bregman added a RBI-double in the fourth for a 4-0 JetHawks lead.

In the sixth, Bregman hit a two-run triple off reliever Nathan Foriest to plate Ramsay and Ruben Castro. Castro provided a double in the eighth inning, and after Bregman walked in his final plate appearance, both scored on a double by Fisher to give Lancaster an 8-0 advantage.

With David Paulino on the mound for the JetHawks in the bottom of the ninth, Donavan Tate led off with a single and advanced to third on a base hit by Nick Schulz. Both scored on a Nick Torres double, accounting for Lake Elsinore's only two runs of the game.

Paulino went on to record his first save, however, striking out three batters and walking none in four innings as the tandem starter.

The JetHawks will go for the series victory on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. Francis Martes (3-1, 2.89) will pitch for Lancaster, and Kyle Lloyd (6-9, 4.64) will start for Lake Elsinore.
