Pitcher Jose Soriano had his longest outing of the year, going five and two thirds, surrendering one run on four hits, with two walks and two strikeouts. Spencer Griffin slugged his second home run of the season. Livan Soto was 4-5 including a double. Francisco Del Valle had two hits in four at bats and drove in a run. Michael Stefanic scored a run, had an RBI on a 3-4 night. And the beat goes on.

The Bees swept the series from the Chiefs with a 6-1 thrashing Saturday night in Burlington. It was the first series sweep for the Bees since August of 2017, when they took four from Kane County.

With both starters throwing strikes, the game was moving quickly and tied at 1-1 entering the bottom of the sixth. Soto led off with a single to center. Kevin Maitan flew out, Griffin followed with a towering 2-run shot over the 403 sign in dead center. Burlington up 3-2.

In the seventh, Stefanic lined a one-out single to right. Soto followed with a single. Stefanic then stole third without a pitch, and Soto went to second when the Peoria third baseman dropped the throw. Stefanic scored on a pickoff throwing error. Griffin walked. Del Valle dumped a single to left scoring Soto. Bees up 5-1.

The final tally came on a Harrison Wenson walk with one out in the eighth, a balk, a D. C. Arendas walk and a Stefanic fly single to center.

Soriano was stellar. Tyler Smith earned his second win with an inning and a third of no hit relief. Ben Morrison closed it, covering the last two innings to the tune of no hits, one walk and two Ks.
