Bees Shut Out Americans 3-0

January 28, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Allen Americans News Release

The Rio Grande Valley Killers Bees defeated the Allen Americans 3-0 on Saturday night in front of the biggest crowd of the season, 5780 at the Allen Event Center.

Rejean Beauchemin saw his 177 minutes of scoreless hockey end as Rio Grande Valley jumped on the board first in the opening period. Dan Gendur put one past Rejean Beauchemin on a wrister from just inside the blue-line, to make it 1-0 Rio Grande Valley. The Americans outshot the Bees 7-6 in the first.

The Bees added to their lead in the second period, after a turnover in the Americans end. The Bees scored on an odd man rush when Phillip Ischi hit Aaron Boogard open in the slot for a quick blast that found the back of the net and a 2-0 lead. Six minutes later, the Bees scored again as Tomas Klempa stole the puck behind the Allen net and slid a wrister past Rejean Beauchemin to make it 3-0 Rio Grande after 40 minutes.

In the third, the Americans found some life but were still unable to solve Rio netminder, John Murray. The Americans pulled goalie Rejean Beauchemin with 6 and a half minutes to go, electing to go with 6 skaters; however Murray stood strong stopping a late flurry of shots en route to a 3-0 shutout of the Americans.

The Americans host the Killer Bees Sunday at 5:05 PM at the Allen Event Center. Tickets are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com . www.allenamericans.com.
