(Bloomington, IN) - With leading scorer Jesse Schultz out of the lineup, the Rapid City Rush battled in a close game against the Bloomington Blaze, but came up short by a 4-2 margin on Saturday night. Despite being doubled in shots, 44-22, the Rush pulled to within one goal late, giving up an empty-net tally that secured the Blaze win. The two teams are back at it on Monday at 6:05pm MST and the game can be heard live on 100.3fm the FOX.

Taking advantage of a delayed penalty, Shawn Limpright picked up his 17th goal of the season by snapping a wrist shot from the left circle to give the Rush a 1-0 lead at 18:01 of the first.

The Blaze were able to tie the contest midway through the second period when Mark Znutas' shot from a severe angle snuck in behind Danny Battochio.

The first half of the third period belonged to Bloomington as the home team buried a pair of goals to take a 3-1 lead. The first came at 5:44 on a shot from the blueline by Doug Krantz that deflected off of a Rush skater and into the top-right corner. The Blaze collected their third unanswered goal near the midway point on a wrist shot from the left circle by Kyle Laughlin who picked up the tally on a delayed penalty against the Rush. In the final minute, a crisp pass from defenseman Michael Couch set up Scott Wray for his fifth goal in as many games, making it a 3-2 contest. However, the Blaze sealed the 4-2 win with an empty net goal by Luke Popko on the ensuing faceoff.
