
Bees No-Hit Chiefs

Peoria, IL (Aug 7, 2008) - Danny Duffy and Juan Abreu combined to no-hit the Peoria Chiefs as the Bees were victorious 10-0 Thursday night at O'Brien Field. Duffy threw six innings while Abreu threw the final three and with the win, the Bees have won the first three games of the four-game series against Peoria.
For the first time in the series, the Bees scored the first run of the Ballgame. The Bees scored three runs in the top of the first inning. David Lough led the inning off with a single and moved up to second when Johnny Giavotella reached on an error. Mike Moustakas then came to the plate and doubled which scored Lough and moved Giavotella to third. After the first out was recorded, Nick Francis was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jamar Walton then singled to score both Giavotella and Moustakas, which gave the Bees a 3-0 lead.
The Bees scored another two runs in the second inning. Ryan Eigsti led the inning off with a single and moved to third on a Giavotella single with one out. Moustakas then singled to score Eigsti and move Giavotella to third. Giavotella then scored on a Clint Robinson single and the Bees led 5-0.
The Bees scored another run in both the third and fourth innings. In the third after Juan Rivera and Eigst each had one-out hits, Lough singled to score Rivera. In the fourth inning, Robinson walked and then scored from first on a Francis double.
The score remained 7-0 until the seventh inning. In the top of the seventh, the Bees scored another three runs. The first run of the inning scored when Jamar Walton scored from third on a wild pitch. Lough and Giavotella then both his two out RBI doubles to give the Bees a 10-0 lead.
Danny Duffy got the start and the win to move to 7-4. Duffy threw six no-hit innings where he allowed just two base runners, who both reached by being walked. Duffy had four strikeouts in the game as well. Abreu pitched the final three innings allowing just a walk. Abreu had five strikeouts in the game including a strikeout with two outs in the ninth to finish the ballgame.
The Bees had 15 hits in the game. Lough led the way going 3-6 with two runs and two RBI. Giavotella, Moustakas, Walton, Rivera and Eigsti each had two hits. Walton and Moustakas also had two RBI in the game.
The Bees and Peoria conclude the series Friday night at O'Brien Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. Luis Cota is the scheduled starter.
