Bees Lose Second In a Row to Kane County

Geneva, IL (Jul 2, 2008) - The Burlington Bees have lost two games in a row after a 7-3 loss at Kane County Wednesday afternoon. In the loss, Adrian Ortiz had two RBI for the second game in a row.

For the eighth consecutive game, the Bees allowed their opponent to score the first run of the game. The Cougars scored one run in bottom of the first. The score remained 1-0 until the top of the third inning. The Bees scored three runs in the third. Jamar Walton led the inning off with a single and moved to second on a Ryan Eigsti single. With one out, Ortiz drove in both runners with a triple. Ortiz then scored on a Johnny Giavotella double to give the Bees a 3-1 lead. The Bees did not score another run in the game.

Kane County got back within one run in the fifth by scoring a run. A two-run homerun off the bat of Greg Dowling in the sixth inning gave the Cougars a lead they would hold on to. Kane County scored another two runs in seventh and one in the eighth to secure the 7-3 victory.

Eduardo Paulino got the start for the bees and allowed four runs on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks in six innings of work. He took the loss to move to 4-4 on the season. Paul Raglione made his debut pitching .2 innings allowing two runs. Chris Chavez allowed one run in 1.1 innings of work.

Ortiz led the team at the plate going 2-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Walton was the only other Bee to have more than one hit as he went 1-3.

The Bees and Kane County continue the series Thursday evening. Danny Duffy is the scheduled starter. First pitch is set for 6:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees return home to Community Field on Saturday to begin a three-game series with Clinton.
