Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees (30-33) battled back through a late deficit and the elements to take an 8-6 win over Round Rock Express (35-28) on Sunday afternoon. The win gave the Bees a split in their six-game series with the Express and an 8-4 record over the 12-game homestand, the longest home stretch of the season.

The two teams traded blows over the first three innings with Trey Cabbage providing the early Bees highlight with a two-run shot in the bottom of the first, his 16th homer of the season. At the end of the sixth inning, the Express led 6-4 and the skies opened up above Smith's Ballpark leading to a 47-minute rain delay.

When the game restarted in the seventh the Round Rock offense dried up, but the Bees offense battled back scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a Zach Humphreys single and a wild pitch to tie things up. In the eighth, Humphreys walked with the bases loaded to break the tie and Jordyn Adams singled to provide some insurance before Andrew Wantz came in and closed the door for his second save of the season.

The Bees take off for Oklahoma City to start a six-game series with the first-place Dodgers on Tuesday. The team returns home to Smith's Ballpark on Tuesday, June 20 for a six-game series with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.
