PORTLAND, Ore. - Oliver Perez struck out eleven batters and Bernie Castro went 3 for 5 with two RBI doubles as the Beavers held on to win, beating the Sidewinders 6-5 before 4,717 Friday afternoon at PGE Park.

Brad Cresse hit a deep two-run blast in the ninth to make it a 6-5 ballgame, but the rally came up short as the Beavers won their fourth straight and the Sidewinders dropped their eighth consecutive game.

Portland fell behind early after Mike Bell and Brad Cresse each hit back-to back home runs off consecutive pitches in the second, putting Tucson up 2-0.

Alex Fernandez hit an RBI double and Donaldo Mendez hit a game-tying single in the second before Tagg Bozied smacked a line drive down the left field line to put the go-ahead run on the board in the third.

In six innings, Oliver Perez (3-3) gave up three runs on five hits. He gave up zero walks to go along with his eleven strikeouts.
